Just in: Overcooked 2 still chaotic, improvement in miniature painting skill and Vampire recommendations.
Last game you played? Overcooked 2! I got the pleasure of introducing the game to one of my best friends. We were absolutely locked in, it was chaotic, and it was tons of fun!
What’s a topic you’d like to make a documentary about? The absolutely unhinged headlines about Labubus I was only recently made aware of would suggest they’re great as a topic for a documentary.
Quote from a reading you’d recommend? If you’re in the mood for a real classic, pick up Carmilla (1872).
“I experienced a strange tumultuous excitement that was pleasurable, ever and anon, mingled with a vague sense of fear and disgust. I had no distinct thoughts about her while such scenes lasted, but I was conscious of a love growing into adoration, and also of abhorrence. This I know is paradox, but I can make no other attempt to explain the feeling.”
What’s something you’ve done, written, or helped create that you’re proud of? I finished painting another two D&D miniatures! I’m slowly learning more about highlights and shadows, and I can definitely see a slow improvement.
Where’s your favorite place you’ve lived or visited? One of the most memorable group travels I was ever a part of visited Nîmes. It was the first trip for a group that I ever helped to organise, the stay itself was amazing, chaotic, and intense at times. One of the strange highlights was a group hug on the square next to the Roman arena, while two individuals were singing hymns and at least one other was crying their eyes out. I met some of my closest friends during this trip, so Nîmes has a special place in my mind.
What gadget would you like to try or already have and can recommend? It’s too pricey for what it is, and it’s for sure a gimmick, but the Rola mini companion robot just looks adorable. I would love to just try it out.
Where and when are you most productive? I’ve had a good streak recently with being more productive in the evening hours! I doubt it will last as it get dark sooner, but for now, a definite win!
What’s a game that you really should’ve played by now? V Rising. I bought this game years ago. I haven’t even opened it yet.
What question should be swapped out for another? Let’s change Where and when are you most productive? to What’s one of your favourite historical anecdotes?

Hello! My name is Corine Gerritsen and I am responsible for the subproject ‘Mechanics’ in the project of Playful Time machines. I got both my BA degree in history and my RMA in Ancient Studies at Utrecht University. I started focusing on the past in video games during my internship at VALUE, and the topic stuck. Always up for checking out new, old, small, big, whacky, and serious ludic renditions of the past.
