Just in: The Sims album still a banger after 25 years, research playground… in process and a recommendation to play full-release Foundation.

New Question: Where do you want to go today? Somewhere the outside apparent temperature is higher than -3 degrees.
Last game you played? Foundation, a game that was in Early Access since 2019 and was released fully since January 31st. It’s one of the most adorable city-builders I know.
A task you’ll finally get around to this week? Work on the Research Playground again!
Quote from a reading you’d recommend? “It is this sense of history as the failure—especially in the West—of religion, metaphysics, science, and finally history itself—this failure to find meaning in things and processes external to consciousness, that leads us to think that history—rethought, refigured, re-imagined—might hold the secret to how and why this quest was mistaken” Hayden White (2005). Historical Fiction, Fictional History, and Historical Reality
Something the team is working on? Revamping the Research Playground… Stay tuned!

Latest earworm? I’ve recently played The Sims re-release together with my brother, and I am sure I will remember the soundtracks for as long as I live and recognise it anywhere!
Something you’d write another dissertation about? Something that always interested me is the developments within tv-commercials: What is changing? When? Why? What broader implications could that have?
Quote from something you’ve written? “In 1780, one of the most important decisions for wargames was made, as Johann Christian Ludwig Hellwig ran into a problem during the design of his kriegsspiel. “The firing range is too far” Hellwig laments, and he could not solve this problem without creating distortions in the rest of the gameplay. Even though he noted the break in realism, he decided to leave it in, a trade-off between realism and playability, some 200 years before Sid Meier faced the same trade-off.” In a dissertation chapter on Early Digital Games.
A dish you’re hoping to make soon? Vegan Sushi, takes quite some time to make, but always worth the effort.

What question should be swapped out for another?

Let’s swap “Latest earworm” to “What’s a great bad movie you’d recommend?”
